Watercolor artist Pamela West
First
let me say thank you for taking some time out of your busy life to have
a look at my watercolour art.
A
little bit about myself....Ever since I was a little girl, I have
always enjoyed the creative arts like, drawing, painting, playing
music, and making things with my hands. Through the years I have been
painting and creating crafts and sharing them as gifts with friends and
family.
I currently work as a watercolour artist and illustrator at my home in
the beautiful countryside in Hampshire UK.
I was born in 1951 in the small village of Pamber Heath and have lived
here most of my life. I am a wife and a mother of 3 beautiful children
(now grown up). 2 of them are now living in different parts of the
world. My family have always encouraged me for which I am forever
grateful. It is through their unwavering and continual encouragements
that I have decided to take my art seriously. I turned full time as a
watercolor artist and am concentrating more on developing my art.
My watercolour art is inspired by many sources - the English
countryside and quirky old fashioned things like little shops and
Victorian children. Snow and winter are my favourite subjects and the
ones that I started doing when I took up art again about 10 years ago.
I love animals (especially cats - I have 2 ginger moggies) and enjoy
trying to do animal portraits. Being creative and getting paid for it
is what I enjoy most about being a watercolour artist.
I use mainly watercolor, gouache and ink as my medium of choice, but I
don't like to limit myself. I have also been using acrylics recently
and am finding that the brilliant colours are more suited to the autumn
scenes and colours I love painting. I am very much a self-taught artist
in the fine arts of painting and illustration. I learned a lot from
books and videos as well as doing a few courses. I have been selling my
art on eBay since June 2002, where I regularly have originals up for
auction. Then last year I discovered ACEOs - little art cards that
people collect. They are affordable art and can be mounted and framed
or collected in special albums. My eBay venture has encouraged me to
turn professional and my art is in demand. My work can be found around
the world in private collections. I have recently been doing a
commission of 8 paintings for a UK national magazine which will mean a
lot more exposure for my art.
